Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) is hiring and invites suitably qualified persons to apply for the vacancy: Handyman.
Reporting to: Team Leader: Site
Key Purpose:
The primary responsibility of this role is to maintain and repair site-related equipment, conduct building maintenance, painting, and general repairs as per maintenance schedules.
Key Duties & Responsibilities (Key Outputs):
- Repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand tools and power tools and reassemble equipment.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance to ensure that building systems operate efficiently and that the physical condition of the building does not deteriorate.
- Use a range of tools, including hand and power tools like hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
- Maintain ablution facilities.
- Assemble pipe systems and perform plumbing on machinery and equipment.
- Paint and repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodworks, plaster drywall, and other parts of building structures.
- Repair counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures, such as sheds and outbuildings.
Skills, Experience & Education (Key Attributes and Competencies):
- Equipment Maintenance – Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
- Repairing – Repair machines or systems using the necessary tools.
- Troubleshooting – Determine causes of operating errors and decide what action to take.
- Good understanding of plumbing systems and repairs.
- Active Listening – Give full attention to what other people are saying, take time to understand the points being made, ask questions as appropriate, and do not interrupt at inappropriate times.
- Equipment Selection – Plan a critical part of task execution with the correct tools.
- Reading Comprehension – Understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
- Critical Thinking – Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Operation Monitoring – Watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure equipment is working properly.
- Coordination – Adjust actions in relation to others’ actions.
Qualifications / Experience:
- Matric with Maths.
- A trade qualification (e.g., carpentry, painting, building, and plumbing) will be advantageous.
- A minimum of two years of proven experience as a tiller, painter, plumber, or carpenter, preferably from a construction background.
- Oral communication in English.
- Ability to work without supervision.
- Use of hand and power tools.
- Valid driver’s license.
