Columbus Stainless invites suitable applicants for Bursary programme for 2022.

Columbus Steel is a part of the Acerinox Group of companies. It’s famous for being the sole producer of stainless steel in the whole continent of Africa. Established in 1996 in Mpumalanga, Columbus Steel has become one of the biggest stainless steel suppliers in South Africa and internationally.

Fields of study

For the Academic Year 2022 – 2023, Columbus Steel offers bursaries to students currently pursuing studies in the following:

  • BSc or BEng in Physical Metallurgy / Material Science, for those who studying 1st year in the year 2021
  • BSc or BEng in Physical Metallurgy / Material Science, for those who studying 2nd year in the year 2021
  • BSc or BEng in Physical Metallurgy / Material Science, for those who studying 3rd year in the year 2021

Requirements

Before applying, interested students must satisfy the following requirements:

  • Must be a citizen of South Africa
  • Must have completed Matric
  • Must study towards BSc or BEng in Physical Metallurgy / Material Science
  • Must be in first, second and third-year study in 2021
  • Must study at one of the recognised tertiary institutions in South Africa

Required documents

Together with the accomplished application form, the applicant must also submit the following documents.

  • A certified copy of an ID document
  • A certified copy of the Matric certificate
  • A complete tertiary academic record on the letterhead of the institute
  • Proof of tertiary registration for the year 2021 on the letterhead of the institute
