The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE) is inviting applications for 39 Data Capturer positions in the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP). These positions are aimed at providing youth with employment opportunities to gain work experience.

Learnership Details:

  • Location: Multiple locations, including North West, Limpopo, DFFE Head Office (Pretoria), and Mpumalanga.
  • Allowance/Stipend: R6,600.00 per month
  • Duration: Not specified, but this is an EPWP program.

About the DFFE: The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment is a government department in South Africa responsible for protecting, conserving, and improving the country’s environment and natural resources.

About the EPWP Programme: The EPWP Programme aims to provide employment opportunities for youth to gain work experience. Note that there are no additional benefits beyond the stipend, and successful candidates will be responsible for their accommodation and transportation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Capture monthly progress reports on the Project Management reporting systems.
  • Provide exceptional reports on data received and captured.
  • Reconcile reports and advise the manager on outstanding reports.
  • Scanning, renaming, and uploading project documents.
  • Perform general administrative duties in the office of the Project Manager.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12.
  • A recognized three-year National Diploma/bachelor’s degree is advantageous.
  • Preference given to candidates with 0-2 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the EPWP and reporting protocols.
  • Basic organizational and coordination skills.
  • Basic stakeholder management, facilitation, and an understanding of government planning processes.
  • Sound planning and organizing skills.
  • Basic communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft packages.
  • Ability to work long hours, under pressure, and willingness to travel are added advantages.
