Requirements

  • Senior Certificate/Grade 12, ABET 2, 3, 4, Passed Standard 8 or Grade 10, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Good interpersonal skills, basic communication, and literacy.
  • Ability to perform routine tasks.
  • Knowledge of cleaning materials is essential.

  • Ability to work physically for long hours, exposure to chemicals, and hazardous working conditions.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Effective cleaning of buildings: Cleaning offices, courtrooms, and open spaces; emptying dustbins; dusting and polishing wooden tables and other furniture; refilling water bottles with fresh water; cleaning windows, doors, and walls; scrubbing, mopping, and polishing floors; vacuuming carpets; sweeping passages, floors, office floors, pavements, and basements.
  • Effective cleaning of toilets: Deep cleaning of toilets; refilling toilet dispensers with toilet paper and handwashing soap; washing basins, walls, and floors.
  • Effective cleaning of kitchens: Washing dishes during forums and other meetings; washing kitchen floors; cleaning kitchen appliances; assisting with tea and coffee during forums and other meetings.
  • Assistance regarding the general safety of buildings: Reporting defects encountered during cleaning; alerting working staff of slippery floors and stairs; alerting the supervisor of failed light bulbs and locks not working.
  • Cleaning toilets, basins, and wall tiles, emptying and washing dustbins. Sweeping passages, floors, and offices. Scrubbing, mopping, and polishing floors. Dusting and polishing furniture. Sweeping and mopping holding cells. Regularly washing windows.
