Midvaal Local Municipality is hiring and invites suitably qualified persons to apply for the vacancy: Temp Fire Fighters[x17 posts].

Salary: R 7,888.67 per month (R 94,664.00 per annum) for a 3-year contract.

Location: Midvaal Local Municipality, which is one of three local municipalities within the Sedibeng District Municipality, situated in the Southern region of Gauteng Province, South Africa.

Duties:

  • Responding to daily tasks and orders from the Station Officer.
  • Vehicle and equipment testing and checking.
  • Cleaning of equipment and vehicles.
  • Reporting any malfunctions to the officer on duty.
  • Assisting with firefighting activities, including combatting fires, adhering to command on scenes, and protecting property.
  • Attending to control room duties when required.
  • Carrying out rescue work.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF 3 qualification.
  • Firefighter 1 & 2 Hazmat Awareness.
  • First aid level 3 or Basic Ambulance Course (registered with the HPCSA) is an added advantage.
  • Code C Driver’s License.
  • Must be medically and physically fit for operational duties.
  • Must be able to swim.
  • Should not suffer from any phobias (e.g., claustrophobia, acrophobia).
  • Experience or knowledge regarding fire and rescue will be an added advantage.
  • A hardworking and self-disciplined person.
  • 3 months internship experience is a plus.
