About Sekhukhune District Municipality: Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM) was established in December 2000 and consists of four Local Municipalities: Elias Motsoaledi, Ephraim Mogale, Fetakgomo Tubatse, and Makhuduthamaga. The district is known for its rich history, natural beauty, and vast deposits of precious metals, including the largest reserves of platinum group metals globally.
Summary of Core Functions:
- Perform effective fire services and respond to fire and rescue incidents within and outside the area of jurisdiction.
- Provide special services as required.
- Respond to humanitarian services and emergencies.
- Implement fire prevention strategies effectively.
- Conduct inspections of fire equipment.
- Fulfill other duties assigned by relevant seniors in the District.
- Must be capable of handling stressful situations and not be claustrophobic or altophobic.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or equivalent to a Firefighter I course.
- Hazmat Awareness certification.
- First Aid Level 3 and Medical Test NFPA 1582.
- No criminal record.
Experience:
- 1 year of relevant operational experience.
- Code EB Driver’s License will be an added advantage.
Skills, Knowledge, and Understanding:
- Knowledge of local government legislations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
