About the Scholarship Provider – Embassy of France: Campus France is an agency of the French Ministries of European and Foreign Affairs and of Higher Education and Research. It aims to encourage French Higher Education and facilitate academic exchange between global and French tertiary institutions. Campus France in South Africa promotes higher education in France and assists students and researchers pursuing postgraduate studies in France.
About the France South Africa Scholarship Programme: The Embassy of France invites students from South Africa, Lesotho, and Malawi to apply for scholarships for the 2024 academic year. These scholarships cover studies in France leading to a Master’s or PhD degree in ANY field of study, starting in September 2024. There are two types of scholarships available: full scholarships and cost-sharing scholarships.
Expenses Covered by the Scholarships:
- Full Scholarship:
- Return flight to France
- Monthly allowance (approximately 850 euros for master’s students and 1400 euros for PhD students)
- Individualized accommodation aid (approximately 150 euros per month) from the French Government
- Social security
- Priority for accessing student housing
- Visa fee exemption
- Assistance by Campus France Paris
- Cost-Sharing Scholarship:
- Monthly allowance provided fully or partially by a partner
- All other benefits of a full scholarship
Eligibility Requirements: To qualify for this scholarship, you must:
- Be a citizen of South Africa, Lesotho, or Malawi
- Have been born on or after 1 January 1994
- Be enrolled to study towards a Master’s degree or PhD
- Be enrolled to study at a French Higher Education institution
- Intend to start your studies in September 2024
How to Apply:
- Applicants must apply online using the France South Africa Scholarship Application 2024.
- Candidates should register an account, complete the online application form, and upload the required documents.
- Ensure all information is correct before submitting.
- Submit your application before the closing date, 16 October 2023, at 23:59.
Required Supporting Documents: ALL applicants must submit:
- Completed online application form
- Passport
- Updated resume/curriculum vitae, including entire academic record
- Covering letter, including motivations and interests in the selected academic project
- Degree certificates (Bachelor or Master degrees)
- University transcripts for the last 2 years of study
In addition:
- Master’s students must provide additional documents related to their study programs and proof of acceptance from the study program.
- PhD students must provide a supervisor commitment letter, detailed research project description, and co-supervision information (if applicable).
Closing Date: 16 October 2023 (at 23:59). Applications submitted after this date will not be accepted.
