Financial Service Board (FSB) invites students to apply for Bursary Scheme / Programme for 2018 academic year to study Actuarial Science through the University of Witwatersrand or the University of Pretoria, for easy communication and mentoring of the students.

Those bursaries are targeted at previously disadvantaged South African students who are not able to further their careers in the Actuarial Science flied and will run from 2018-2021. The successful candidates will be required to enter into a work-back contract with the FSB proportional to the number of years they have been funded by the organisation.

Requirements for Current Universities Students

  • Letter of application (Motivational letter)
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Successful completion of either first year or first year studies in actuarial science with an average mark of at least 66%
  • Certified copy of a tub academic record.

Requirements for Matriculants

  • Letter of application (Motivational letter)
  • Grade 11 and matric mid-year results with a minimum of an A-symbol In Mathematics.
  • The final decision to award a bursary will depend on the Grade 12 results and admission to art actuarial study programme through the University of Witwatersrand or University of Pretoria.

  • Registration and tuition fees
  • Accommodation
  • Meals
  • Books / study material / stationery / Internet time
  • Laptop (once-off)
  • Living expenses (monthly allowance for incidental expenses.

Experiential Learning

  • The bursars will be required to spend a minimum of 4 Weeks per year at the FSB during their vacation breaks for experiential learning.
  • Only previously disadvantaged South African citizens are eligible to apply for the bursary.
