JSE Empowerment Fund (JEF): Bursary Programme 2024 for South African students

The JSE Empowerment Fund (JEF) is inviting students to apply for the Bursary, for the 2024 academic year.

The JSE Empowerment Fund (JEF) Bursary provides financial support for undergraduate and postgraduate (Honours level) studies in specific fields at selected universities in South Africa. Below are the eligibility requirements and application instructions for the JEF Bursary:Eligibility Requirements:Before applying for the JSE Empowerment Fund Bursary, ensure that you meet the following minimum entry criteria:Citizenship: You must be a South African citizen.Education: You should have completed your Matric (Grade 12).Field of Study: You must be studying full-time toward a degree qualification in one of the following fields:

  • Accounting
  • Actuarial Science
  • Computer Science
  • Data Analytics
  • Economics
  • Finance
  • Informatics
  • Information Technology
  • Mathematics

Academic Level: You should be entering your 2nd, 3rd, or Postgraduate (Honours) level of study in 2024.University: You must be studying at one of the specified South African universities:

  • University of Pretoria
  • University of Johannesburg
  • University of the Witwatersrand
  • University of Cape Town
  • University of Limpopo
  • University of KwaZulu-Natal
  • University of the Free State
  • University of Fort Hare
  • Nelson Mandela University
  • North-West University

Academic Record: You must have a strong academic record and have achieved a minimum overall average of 60% in your studies.Household Income: Your total household income should not exceed R600,000 per annum.Designated Group: You should be from a designated group.Previously Disadvantaged Background: You should come from a previously disadvantaged background.
